How many laptops per person are allowed on airplane?

I want to know how many laptops are allowed per head when we are travelling from US to India. I have to carry two laptops with me. So can some one tell me, if it is allowed to carry more than one laptop? I doubt if the US customs or India customs will object if I carry two.
